'Black is' captures the essence of black identity and within this premise, it touches on cultural assimilation and colourism. Within this website, you will explore where my inspiration stemmed from. 

A lot of my ideas were inspired by Carrie Mae Weems, Ngendo Mukii and others to enable me to formulate a narrative around my theme.

I have always been interested and attracted to black culture and the concept of identity so when told that we were going to make a film, I just knew that I had to focus on the identity and the complexities that surround it.
